Diketo Inclusive Education was founded in 2015 with the vision of improving access to early learning education and play for ALL children.  We believe that every child deserves the opportunity and support to develop and reach their full potential.

We are passionate about inclusion and our area of focus is on children at risk and children with disabilities. We believe that if children with disabilities are given access to quality care and education in their early years, they will thrive, be independent and contribute positively toward society.

Diketo Inclusive Education a social enterprise that supports and trains early childhood development (ECD) practitioners and primary school teachers on how to build inclusive education through play and learning for all children.  This occurs through practitioner/teacher training and workshops as well as on-site therapeutic support.  Realizing that onsite support is not always accessible, we have started providing online therapy services for children with barriers to learning and providing online support for their families/schools (www.myonlinetherapistco.za).

Diketo was founded by Basheera Surty. Basheera qualified as an Occupational Therapist at the University of Cape Town in 2007.  She has broad and diverse experience working professionally with children of different abilities and their families, in communities, hospitals, NPOs and in private practices.  She was nominated by News 24 as one of the “100 young Mandela’s of the future”. The nomination was informed by her work with children with disabilities  and their families.
